Should a player NOT wish to be “Franchised” by his team what next?
If a player refuses to be “Franchised” by a team he can then exercise his “Opt-Out” option. However, once he signs on with the other team he must remain with that team for the remainder of the year – no further “Opt-Out” options.
Also, if a player is labeled as a “Franchise Player” and does not participate in the first tournament, that player may be removed from the roster without utilizing his “Opt-Out” option.
How can I “Opt-Out” without paying a fee?
All players have a chance to “Opt-Out” before the first tournament of the year immediately following the World Championships (Mid-January to Mid-March). However, once they compete on a team in a sanctioned tournament, they are eligible to be labeled as a “Franchise Player” by that team and fees will be accessed on their next move.
When is my initial roster “official” for the season?
No roster is official for the season until the annual $25 sanctioning fee and a completed on-line roster is submitted by the MCFFU.
If my team does not compete in the WC, when can I franchise players?
Teams that do not compete in the World Championships can only submit their “Franchise Players” list when they compete in their first sanctioned event of the season. Should their players compete on another team during the WC, they will have from Mid-January to Mid-March to get back with their team.
What prevents a team from grabbing as many players to “Franchise”?
You can only “Franchise” 12 players and Roster limits are always set at 25 to begin the season, which will limit all teams from loading up rosters spots. No team will be able to compete in any USA Circuit event without an official roster submitted and posted on-line via the MCFFU.
What if a player is listed on 2 rosters?
That player will then have to contact the MCFFU to announce which team he should be listed on or he will be deemed ineligible to compete with any team for that tournament.
Who should I “Franchise”?
Only “Franchise” players who you believe are subject to compete with other teams frequently. If you have loyal players, there is no need to place a “Franchise” tag on them. This will help keep your team intact and more consistent.
Where can I find the official “Franchise Players” list and monitor roster movement?
All franchised players will be listed on the MCFFU website and message board. Nothing else will be considered “official”.
What happens if a team has more than the required amount of players on their roster?
Any team dressing more than the required amount of players (25) will be fined and the game in which they are competing will be an automatic forfeit. Players out of uniform are ineligible to compete with any team on the circuit.
What if a player would like to “Opt-Out” to a team that has 12 franchise players?
Then the player is unable to compete with that team. Another player would have to “Opt-Out” to make a space for the new team and that player must be removed from the roster all together to make space for the new “Franchised” player to join the team. ONLY 12 FRANCHISE PLAYERS ARE ELIGIBLE PER TEAM.
Why are fees accessed to players and teams for “Opt-Outs”?
Fees are placed to discourage player movement. The less player movement teams encounter, the more likely they can build a competitive team to compete on the circuit.
What about “Non-Franchised” players?
Any player on a roster NOT tagged with the “Franchise” label is eligible to compete with any team that has open space.
What if my team does not want to “Franchise” anyone on our roster?
Not “Franchising” any players on your roster means that teams can openly recruit your players to compete for any sanctioned MCFFU event on the USA Circuit. However, an official roster must be submitted for each event. |
