About Us

Who is the Metro Competitor Flag Football Union?

The MCFFU is America's premier flag football organization offering the only World Championships Circuit extending coast to coast. The MCFFU is committed to the support and development of competitive flag football nationally.

It is founded on the belief that solid, successful flag leagues and organizations, which are in the business of competitive team and tournament development, working in unison will create a national network of their own to foster growth, address concerns, sanction and provide tournaments that place the teams and players first and far most above anything else all the while working to bring a true World Championship to the flag community. While our core membership consists of highly competitive teams and leagues that compete on a national level year-round, we also promote and sanction less competitive styles of play, such as recreational and youth.

MCFFU Philosophy

Our philosophy on growing the game of competitive flag football is simple. The MCFFU offers amateur flag football and football players an opportunity to play organized flag football in local leagues and national events. We do so by supporting entrepreneurial - minded flag football organizers with hands-on guidance in building their local leagues.

Our growth will continue to come through identifying qualified individuals in cities across the country and providing them with the tools and guidance to properly build and grow their leagues and/or tournaments.

Players and coaches are also registered through the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA).  USSSA is the largest multi-sport sanctioning body in the United States, registering youth leagues, adult leagues and tournaments in twelve different sports and a partner of the MCFFU.

Competition

The MCFFU believes an important aspect of the development of competitive flag football is offering the right competitions for the right groups.

All competing teams need the opportunity to test themselves against other quality teams at or just above their own competitive level in order to help them develop both their technical and tactical sophistication.

We strive to provide our members with competitions that will aid team development and growth.

The USA Flag Football Circuit and World Championships

The World Championships was designed to bring together the games BEST teams in multiple styles.  The first ever World Championships introduced the top 8v8 Eligible teams, while the 2nd introduced the top 9v9 Ineligible teams.  Since then, the MCFFU has split the WC to host multiple styles in regions that support each style.  Las Vegas and Miami are currently the host cities of the 2 World Championships featuring over 10 different styles...

Teams compete throughout the year on the USA Circuit that consists of National Championships and Invitationals across the country!  Upon the completion of the USA Circuit, teams then compete in the World Championships offering their style of play in either Miami, FL or Las Vegas, NV.

Points are earned and calculated along with wins and losses, in order to systematically seed teams in their respective division for the World Championships!

The World Championships is why competitive teams compete throughout the year on the USA Circuit; so that they can either qualify for or gain favorable seeding for the WC; based on select divisions.  The WC is open to all teams competing on multiple skill levels.

The first leg of the World Championships is played in Miami, FL every January on MLK weekend, while the 2nd leg of the World Championships in held in Las Vegas, NV each March!
