Burning Bridges: It Cannot Be Done

Let’s be loud and clear about this, YOU CANNOT BURN BRIDGES IN FLAG FOOTBALL!!!!!!!

For those out there who are hesitant (Eastern Brethrens) about trying out this new empire called the M.C.F.F.U., you are short sighted and foolish. To think that by playing in the U for a tournament, may it be a National or Regional, you’ll be sent to damnation for it, illustrates the mentality you have as a people. Yes, we who participate in recreational sport are very serious about it but that’s just it, this is recreation for guys who love to compete.

No one will or should hold you in contempt for experimenting with your own free will and hard earned money. If something intrigues you, you explore it, just like in those scary movies. Hell, that’s how America was discovered wasn’t it? Imagine if Columbus’ genocidal behind was afraid to venture the open sea and explore the world? This is what Corporate America calls “thinking outside the box” and to date it has kept many businesses afloat.

Flag Football is no different, in order to progress the game, you have to think outside the box for creative ways to reach your maximum potential. It’s those entities that remain stagnant by not changing and taking for granted their customer base who usually fall short of the bottom line.

It’s those individual teams who perpetuate those large entities stagnancy by not having the vision nor courage to demand more. You as a customer base are the reason why entities such as the USFTL refuse to think outside the box. Just like Coke and Pepsi, you have a choice and in sometime in your life you tried both.

Mike Cihon is not an idiot!!!! He did not grow the USFTL to where it is today by turning teams away because they played in the AFA, Flag Mag or any other National organization. If you play in the Union today and enter a tournament of his next month, I GUARNATEE you a year’s free entry fee with the U that he’ll accept your money.

He won’t make you play at the crack of dawn in that tournament, nor encourage the Officials to make it a long day for you. He will simply do whatever (less prize rewards) in his power to demonstrate why his tournaments are superior then any other. If he does do any of those negative things after paying your hard earned money, then why are you with that type of person anyway?

So why are teams hesitant about trying new leagues or thinking outside the box to reach their full potential? It’s not because you’ll burn any bridges with other League Directors. Maybe the cash prizes and other incentives scare you. Maybe you like playing free for those other Organizations because you know it’s too competitive in the U and you won’t win anything anyway. You are afraid to think outside the box and that’s why you’re team has probably reached its peak and will not be any better tomorrow than it is today.

He who loses money loses much

He who loses love loses more, but

He who loses courage loses ALL

Have the courage to walk across the Bridge, if it doesn’t work out, you can always go back.
