Unify The National Titles
To be the best, you have to beat the best or who cares

Part of our mission is to provide a platform to crown a “True National Champion” without discrediting the successes and accomplishments that other National Tournament Directors and their organizations have endured over the years as well as not to belittle any of the teams themselves.  But the goal remains, 1 undisputed National Champion no if’s, and’s or but’s.

Understandably a National Champion of any sort is a feat within itself and all winners should be praised for their accomplishments equally.  Nevertheless, the key word is equal meaning “even”, which does not give one team an advantage over the other without speculation and scrutiny.

This leads us to the unfinished business at hand, no “true” National Champion.  Believe what you want, but not one current National Champion of the existing National Organizations will step aside and declare the other the best or will they accept a tie.  What’s the purpose of a season if there is no clear winner?  What’s the purpose of playing a National if you have not played the best the country has to offer, you are unknown to most and your title is not respected by ALL of your peers in the competitive flag community?

Who says you are the champion?  Who did you beat to become the National Champion?  How easy was your road to becoming a National Champion?  Did you “really” play the nations best?  Who says one National’s is better than another?  Everyone has his or her own opinion, but the ONLY way a true National Champion can be determined is on the field.

Speaking from experience, after winning a National title it was as if we had insulted the flag Gods.  Criticism, doubt and complete disregard of what we had accomplished was all we received outside of a trophy and a cap.  We spent about 2 to 3 months defending ourselves as to why we could call ourselves the National Champs.  The fact is, that no one outside of the organization you competed in really gives a flip one way or the other.

We all harbor bias opinions regarding the Nationals we compete in as being the one.  We want to believe that we are the best, have played the best and have beaten the best.  But truth is that in order to prove something is 100% true, everything else has to be proven to be 100% false; and the only way a team can prove to everyone who the true National Champion is in any style, is on the gridiron, between the lines, one game at a time against the best the game has to offer.

A National Championship should conclude the flag season and begin anew, but how can you conclude with multiple winners, unfinished business?  Would anyone accept a 6-game NBA series or MLB World Series finished at 3-3, leaving the crowning of the World Champion up to debate by the players and fans?  The current system that we go by is similiar to College football holding their conference championships and calling it a season.  What would’ve been the point of the season?

Now as to why organizations have yet to come together and attempt to conclude a season by determining an undisputed National Champion is for reasons known and unknown to all of us.  But the point is we all want to know who actually is the best team in the country, we all want to know how the story ends and what team was left standing when the dust settled.

I personally appreciate and respect what tournament organizers have done with their individual nationals as do most of us, but finances aside; the only way it can happen is if someone really wants to see it done even if it does not meet ones financial expectations, which is why the Union was started in the first place, to get as close as possible to having 1 National Champ for multiple styles.

The greatest thing any team can play for other than the love of the game is becoming the undisputed National Champion of their respected style of play.  That is history; that is a serious accomplishment and that is the only way it should be. That in its self cannot be purchased with an entry fee or beating a portion of the nations best, it has to be earned by being the best of your peers - ALL of your peers.
