AFA Under New Management?
Flag Organization Moves in and takes over AFA...

Come on JZ…..come on now JZ, are you serious? I was with you regarding the article to Bill Williams; I was with you on the tribute to Mr. Williams and his accomplishments with the AFA right up until the end. Right about there you lost me. You tried to sneak a curveball by me but you hung it and I’m about to do what the big boys do when you hang’em - bang’em!

You say and I quote, “ After everything Williams did for all of us, it would be selfish of me not to do everything it takes to make sure the events he was so proud of take place as scheduled .” Come on JZ, come on now JZ was there a tear in your eye when you said that?  Don’t go get all sentimental on me and try to justify you trying to move in on an opportunity. What you meant to say is that it would be “foolish” of me not to take full advantage of this so-called opportunity!

You say you will be willing to take the reins as need be to carry on the name and the tradition, huh huh. Didn’t you mean willing to take the money rather than the rein? Where was FM when the AFA was up and running? Where was the support and praise for Bill Williams and his accomplishments then? There was nothing mentioned of his organization, his contribution to the West Coast and flag football or his Nationals for that matter any where on your site. In fact, you and your East Coast National affiliate never even mention Mr. Williams’ organization or his name publicly, until now. You never tried to work with the AFA and you damn sure didn’t recognize it.

All it is is that you (FM) see an opportunity but to justify acting on it you pull the “We Shall Over Come - card” and announce that this has to be done to keep the dream alive! Fitting for January 15 th . There is nothing wrong with seeing an opportunity and reacting on it, that’s business, but don’t give me some fake spill about, “Williams would have insisted that these events take place…no matter what.” You’ve got to be freaking kidding me!

So now the self proclaim “National Governing Body of Flag Football” takes it upon itself to eliminate the AFA’s name all together, stamps a big “FM.com Nationals” label on it and immediately begin asking teams to pay up all in the name of the love of flag football and the AFA. I’m touched.   Again, I personally think that there is nothing wrong with your motives from a business perspective, however your approach is classless and a slap in the face to the AFA and I’m sure the William’s family is pleased to hear that you took the initiative to be the direct beneficiary of AFA.  Way to step up and take charge!

FM.com states that President JZ, seems determined to make sure these events take place, no kidding! “We will make sure the Nationals continue, We will call it ……the FM.com Nationals (does anyone hear celestial music when you read that quote or is it just me?) where the top four teams of each division will advance to the World Cup Tournament…” and the crowd goes wild! I have to give you credit JZ, you had me going for a minute! Had I not been paying attention I would’ve been singing “Kumbaya” right along with you and filling up the collection plate.
