Pacific Mt. Nationals has Bright Future
Utah could eventually host one of the largest events

Not known to the outside competitive flag football community as ever being a strong region for flag football, Salt Lake City Utah over the last year or so, has quietly positioned itself as one of the top flag regions in the country.

This weekend, Chuck Conover will be hosting the MCFFU Pacific Mountain Nationals in Salt Lake City, UT.  8-Man Eligible and 5-Man are the featured styles with the 5-Man division registering 20+ teams.  Last year, Chuck hosted a successful Qualifier in St George, UT last December, before turning his attention to bringing a National tournament to the state of Utah and along with it more national exposure and recognition.

By doing so, Chuck has Utah in a position to potentially host one of the largest tournaments in the country in a short period of time.  All the elements that are needed to produce a mega-tournament are in place.

Salt Lake City, UT is centrally located to other strong flag football states; including Colorado, Nevada, California, Texas, Oregon and Washington (which all are heavy with teams that play the same styles offered in Utah), the city along is intriguing to first time visitors, it’s in driving distance to several strong flag cities, they offer excellent playing facilities, national sponsors, a dedicated tournament director and most importantly Utah has a solid number of local competitive teams participating.

There are certain places where you can pretty much be guaranteed enough, new competition to make the trip worth its weight in travel cost and Salt Lake City, UT is definitely one of them.

Teams such as the 2007 World Championships Houston Sleepers and the 2006 World Champions All-Met (MD) are both looking to make the trip in 08 along with other teams (both 8-Man eligible and 5-Man) from the Southwest and Central regions.

So look for the Pacific Mountain Nationals to be circled on several 8-Man and 5-Man schedules in 2008, becoming an annual favorite as well as producing some of tomorrow’s elite teams on the national circuit.
