Upcoming Changes
Tournaments: It is the goal of the MCFFU to place high quality tournaments in regions that are not challenging for teams to travel too and reduce the smaller tournaments with less value. We have set up National Tournaments (NTS) in active markets across the U.S. to help stimulate the overall growth of the game of flag.
Realistically, how many times can you expect the average team to purchase plane
tickets, hotel rooms, rental cars and other travel expenses in a year? The
further you have to travel, the higher the expenses.
Tournament deadlines: This is an area that we must all begin to change and respect. It is unfair that teams continually disregard the deadline and keep a
tournament hostage by committing at the last minute. We must respect other
teams that have made plans attend with lots of money tied up in travel expenses
based on word-of-mouth team participation.
A strict two week deadline policy will be enforced throughout the 2008 season.
There will be no more accepting money at the fields or extension beyond the
deadline. A team will be allowed to pull out of one tournament a year without
losing their entry fee. After that a team will have to pay a $100 fine before
they are allowed to play in another tournament.
Tournament Deposits: Teams will be encouraged to place a deposit on upcoming
tournaments to secure a spot and allow the tournament director to provide a
list of participating teams for teams traveling great distances.
Medical Kits: To improve player safety and responsibility. Teams will now be required to have a medical kit at the field at all times.
Tournament Cancellations: If a tournament does not have at least eight paid
teams 2 weeks out, the tournament will be cancelled. Any teams that ave paid,
their money will be rolled over for the next MCFFU Tournament or refunded upon
their request. Teams that pull out of an event will automatically have their
funds rolled over to the next event.
Uniforms: All players will have to wear the same jerseys and shorts at all MCFFU National Tournaments. This policy will be gradually implemented for the
smaller events (National Qualifiers and State tournaments), but highly enforced
for all National tournaments.
Controlling Contact Allowed: In order for the game to attract new teams, e
have to control the amount of unnecessary contact allowed in our contact divisions. This is full contact flag football, but we all have to remember that
we all must have a code of ethics that we must all play with.
The sportsmanship displayed in Dallas was excellent. Play the game hard, but do
it the right way. No one will ever complain about a nice clean hit within the confines of a play. It is the extra, unnecessary contact that starts the problems.
If we want to see our game grow like other amateur sports, we must show a product that is appealing to sponsors outside to the flag football world.
Email vs. Message board: All Union Members are welcomed to email any MCFFU
Board member with any questions or concerns regarding Union vents. The message
board is for entertainment purposes only. If you have a problem or question for
the MCFFU Staff, please don't use the message board.
If you chose to do so, there will be no response from the MCFFU Staff and the post will be deleted. If you want us to assist you, contact directly via e-
mail or by phone and the problem will be resolved immediately.
