National Tournaments and the styles they will offer.
NATIONALS
Southern Nationals – (February 11 & 12 – Jackson, MS): 07 was the first
Southern National event hosted offering 8-Man Eligible and 7-Man Screen. This tournament will focus on Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama and
Tennessee. Look for more styles to be added in 2008.
Big West Nationals – (May 19 & 20 - Fresno, CA): 2007 will be the first annual
Big West Nationals held in Northern California. This tournament will feature 8-

feed into the WNC in Las Vegas, NV.
South Atlantic Nationals – (June 2 & 3 – Atlanta, GA): The MCFFU is will be
returning to Atlanta in summer of 2007. Atlanta was where March Madness was
originally held before being moved to Dallas, TX to become the World
Championships in 2006. Of all the Nationals, the S.A. Nationals will draw from
a wider geographic region. States of focus are: Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi,
Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Arkansas, Virginia
and Maryland. 9-Man Ineligible, 8-Man Eligible and Screen will be the focus.
This national tournament will feed into both the ENC in Virginia Beach, VA as
well as into the SNC in Biloxi, MS.
Midwest Nationals – (June 23 & 24 – Indianapolis, IN): This will be the Union’s
first event in this region as we look to expand our national coverage in 07.
This National tournament will focus on the following states: Indiana, Ohio,
Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan and Kentucky. 8-Man Eligible
will be the featured style offered with 5-Man being considered with A, B and C
divisions for each. The Midwest Nationals will feed into the ENC.
Indianapolis, IN
Pacific Nationals – (July 14 & 15 - Los Angeles, CA): This will be the 3rd
year of the Los Angeles event, which started as the $10k tournament in 2005. This tournament will possibly remain as the Union’s largest cash prize
tournament in 2007. States of focus are: Southern California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico and parts of West Texas. Styles offered will feature 8-Man
Eligible along with 5-Man and Co-Ed. The Pacific Nationals will connect to the
WNC.
Pacific Northwest Nationals – (August 11 & 12 – Tacoma, WA): This is another
region where the Union will be hosting a national event for the first time.
The tournament will concentrate on both the states of Washington and Oregon and
8-Man will again be the featured style along with Co-Ed and 5-Man. This too,
will feed into the WNC and is designed to build more awareness to national
competition in the NW region of the U.S.
Pacific Mountains Nationals – (August 25 & 26 – Pueblo, CO): The
Pacific Mountains Nationals will feature 8-Man Eligible, 5-Man and Co-Ed (A, B
and C divisions) and will concentrate on the following states: Colorado, Utah,
Arizona, Northern Texas, New Mexico, Kansas and parts of Missouri. This
tournament will feed into the WNC and is structured to heighten top-tier
competition in this region for national play.
North Atlantic Nationals – (TBA – New York): This event is currently being
developed and will be held in either June or August each year. This National
tournament will feature 9-Man Ineligible and a couple of other styles yet to be
determined. Details regarding this event will be released by mid-April. The N.
A. Nationals will feed into the ENC in Virginia Beach, VA with the hopes of
encouraging more Ineligible teams to compete nationally.
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS:
Eastern National Championships – (July 28 & 29 – Virginia Beach, VA): The
winner of the ENC will automatically receive the top seed for the Eastern
Conference in the Flag Football World Championships. This event will offer 9-
Man Ineligible, 8-Man Eligible, Semi-Contact, Screen, 5-Man, Co-Ed and Women
(A, B and C). The South Atlantic Nationals, North Atlantic Nationals and the
Midwest Nationals will all feed into this NC with the winners receiving the top
seeds in their respective divisions and styles.
Southern National Championships – (August 11 & 12 – Biloxi, MS): This event
will draw from all southern states along with the Southern Nationals in
Jackson, MS and South Atlantic Nationals in Atlanta, GA. This tournament will
focus primarily on 9-Man Ineligible in the southern states along with Screen.
8-Man eligible will be the third style offered and unlike the other national
events, it will not be the featured style of play. The winners of the SNC will
receive the top seeds for the South in the World Championships in Dallas, TX.
Western National Championships – (January – Las Vegas, NV): The WNC will tie
in the most National tournaments: the Big West Nationals (Fresno, CA), the
Pacific Nationals (Los Angeles, CA), The Pacific NW Nationals (Tacoma, WA) and
the Pacific Mountain Nationals (Colorado Springs, CO). The featured styles
will be 8-Man Eligible and 5-Man. Other styles will include Co-Ed, 35 and Older and Screen.
THE FLAG FOOTBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS:
The World Championships – (March – Dallas, TX): The WC is designed to feature
the best teams in flag football from across the country competing for title;
winners of Nationals and National Championships, along with other top-tier
teams from across the U.S. Unlike the Nationals and National Championships,
the World Championships will not be built on quantity of participation, but
more so based on the quality of the participants.
The WC will allow teams to compete versus the entire country and be considered
the best of the best in the end. The styles featured will be 8-Man Eligible
and 9-Man Ineligible. 5-Man and Screen will also be offered, with the hopes of
becoming featured styles as well in the near future.
Soon, all teams participating in the World Championships will have to qualify
via National competition to compete in the WC. But for now, this event is open
for anyone interested in entering.
