1st Annual Mike Di Scipio Benefit Tourney
Albany, NY - August 25 & 26, 2007

The Cannoneer’s of the CDFFL in Albany N.Y, will be hosting a flag football tournament in late August to help raise money for one of their fellow teammates ,Mike  Di Scipio, who had a horrific diving accident several years ago leaving him paralyzed from the chest down.

After what seemed to be a routine day coaching his son’s little league team, Mike, family and friends went back to his home for a celebration which turned into tragedy after Mike dove into his pool breaking his neck changing his and his families lives forever.

At the time of the accident, Mike was a Correction Officer for the Albany County Sherrif’s Department. He is now 37, continues to raise his children Anthony (17), a junior at Colonie Central HS and Ashley (15) a freshman also attending Colonie Central HS.

We all consider Mike a great friend; this is why we try to do what we can to help him and his family out.

This will be an annual event and will be listed as a MCFFU Nationals for the NE Region in 2008 with all proceeds going towards Mike DiScipio’s Program setup by his teammates and a paid bid to the Flag Football World Championships.. 

Directors of this event are also working to create a Scholarship Program in the name of Mike DiScipio that will also benefit from this event each year.  Any contributions from the flag football community are welcomed and would be greatly appreciated.
