The MCFFU and WC Vision

As State Directors, National Tournament Directors and Head Officials are appointed, the Union will begin focusing its attention on establishing and growing the World Championship Circuit, which will include:

State Qualifiers

State Championships

National Invitational

National Championships

World Championships

The goal is for this years World Championships to be the last “OPEN” tournament, meaning anyone can participate, for the 9-Man Ineligible and 8-Man Eligible styles.  (Screen and 5-Man will remain open events for now)

One of the duties of the appointed State Directors is to have a single team represent his or her state in the World Championships in multiple styles (5-Man, Screen, 8-Man and 9-Man) offered.  This will also be based on the most popular styles in their state.

The MCFFU is utilizing the “Panning for Gold” technique, which means that each state will use the MCFFU In-State and Regional Circuit to filter teams as they make their way towards the National Championships and then onto the World Championships, where the best teams will face off. 

MCFFU/USSSA State Director, along with the Union will work on generating additional funding, via statewide sponsorships to help reduce or completely cover the expenses of the top state team to compete in the World Championships.  Concept: Everyone working together 

Once a team has met all the necessary requirements (accumulated points, wins/lose record, etc) the team will then be registered by the State Director to officially represent the State at the World Championships.  For example, you will have Team X representing Kansas (sponsored by company A) vs. Team Y representing New Jersey (sponsored by company B).

This will provide a better overall product to promote, a competitive and entertaining road to the World Championships, high-quality flag football to present to the growing number of national sports networks, along with an appealing platform for corporations and businesses to market and promote their products/services. 

It will also allow for true game times as games are not crunched into short periods of time, equaling more possessions, more time to adjust strategies and more.  

The U will also provide more national flag football news and updates than any other organization. From player and team profiles to weekly league write-ups to offering on-line video footage of national highlights and behind scene tournament footage.  The Union will be the flag football leaders heading into the new era.

The MCFFU/USSSA National Circuit will continue to offer open events that focus more on quantity allowing all to participate, while the World Championship Circuit will focus more on the overall quality of play rather than numbers.

The WC will also provide a national channel for each team the chance to earn their way to the WC.  Each circuit will offer a different format and serve a unique purpose, while continuing to strive for the same goal – Offering the GREATEST Tournament Circuit the sport has ever seen.
