Kansas
City Classic 2005
8-Man Eligible "A"
What a treat,
got to watch some of the Midwest finest.
Black in Black came from the Lou and showed a diverse
style of play. They look to improve and come back on
the scene soon. ACE out of Rocky Mountains of Colorado
had a very diverse team. They had great running attack
and will option you to an early grave. Once their
running back hits that corner its lights out. Not to
mention the hawgs they have up front. Is that the
Redskins fight song I hear in the background? Might as
well had been. These guys have a good blocking scheme
and will lay on you like a heavyweight fighter. Not
only that, they will spread the ball on you. A very
diverse team with some good athletes.
With all of that
said, props have to go to the tourney
Champs Scat Backs. I had heard of this team before. I
remember hearing about the Latino guys that would be
using Spanish on the line calling their audibles.
Well, my new Latino hombres stepped up to the
challenge and earned my respect. They are typically a
8 – man non-contact team. They have won several titles
in their existence, but I had not heard of them
playing 8-man eligible contact.
These guys may
have had 2 guys on their 10-man roster
that was over 165 lbs. But, when teams like Ace lined
up to pound the ball down their throats they stood the
test. They didn’t let a few torn t-shirts and a few
bumps and bruises get in the way playing great
football. They averaged about 32 points per game on
their way to the title. They beat Ace in the
Championship game and also went undefeated. They
earned my respect for sure and they plan on making
some noise in other 8-man contact tournaments. Good
job Amigos!
We want to thank
the city of Kansas City; Swope park
was huge and had nice fields.
Scatbacks (TX)
defeated ACE (CO) twice including the championship game 33-20. Scatbacks,
primarily a 8-Man Screen team scored 30+ points in each of thier 4 games
- winning all 4
