Interesting 8-Man Topics in Dallas Interesting Match-up:
One of the most interesting match-ups outside of the MCFFU Fantasy Football Match-ups would be a Sunday match-up between All-Met and Sudden Impact (East vs. East), who squared off in the Orlando Nationals with All-Met defeating SI for the championship 16-8. Sudden Impact will be seeking revenge and a chance to be the best of the best with a win in Dallas. But they both have to make it through the West and the other East teams before thinking of a rematch.
Most Complex Offenses:
Teams that will give defenses fits will be the Houston Sleepers with the spread lead by the Ragin Cajun at QB and H.U.H. with their unorthodox offensive formations forcing defenses out of their comfort zone. Both teams can put up points and will be extremely dangerous on Sunday. Their defense will be keys to their success.
The Unknowns:
The Memphis Outlaws and Elite of the East and Dallas Primetime and ACE from the West are three of the unknowns in 8-man eligible contact. Dallas Primetime, like the Houston Sleepers are an explosive 8-man Screen team who can pull flags and put up the points, but again the question will be if the physical play of the Championships will intimidate them; preventing them from making any serious noise....
Memphis Outlaws are not known by anyone outside of Tennessee. Not sure what to expect, but a good showing will make them a future tournament attraction in the East.
ACE is an in state rival that gives the Gamblers fits, but have to prove themselves on the National scene to be considered Colorado’s other elite team. A couple of wins over Eastern teams will give them just that.
Elite is between Pro and Comp – playing in one of the toughest leagues in the country, Elite competes regularly with DC Dolphins, Coleman Clan, HUH, All-Met, Young Guns, etc. Should they play Comp, they will be the early favorites for sure. Question is, will they play Comp or Pro?
Top Veteran Teams:
Young Guns, Daygo Funhouse, DC Dolphins, and Coleman Clan are all veteran teams capable of beating any team in the tournament. The EDC Champions, Young Guns are not as appealing on paper as are some of the other teams and are seldom mentioned, but East Coast teams will tell you that this team is more than capable of winning it all.
The DC Dolphins and Coleman Clan are loaded with veterans who know the game. Both teams will always be around late and will make the big play to beat you if you are not careful. The Dolphins are notorious for explosive kickoffs that can turn a game around in a flash.
Daygo Funhouse is known as the “other” Southern California team behind Swarm, which is why this tournament will be a chance for them to prove that they are capable of being mentioned in the same breathe as Swarm.
In Your Face Play:
All-Met, Denver Gamblers and Pfuzion all are not big on gimmick plays just right at-cha football, especially on offense. All-Met and the Gamblers both have athletic QB’s that will be tough to sack; however the Gamblers QB maybe one of the fastest men on the field at any given time. He struggled in the red zone in Bakersfield $10k tournament, but made it happen with his arm and legs in the Vegas WDC.
Like All-Met and Gamblers, Pfuzion will attack you with their WR’s and a strong-armed QB supported by a physical defense. The South’s most decorated 8-Man team; Pfuzion looks to put the South on the National scene and will be another dangerous team in Dallas that has the talent to go deep into Sunday.
Don’t Sleep:
L.B. All-Stars finished 2nd in Vegas and have yet to receive full respect as an elite team in the West from all their peers and others. One of the most physical teams in the West, they are a team that is looking to make a statement as well and a team that no one wants to see in a elimination game on Sunday. Consist play is the only question with them.
Team Xavix, is an average team if you go strictly by looks, but under estimate this group and you will have an early exit on Sunday. Patient QB and steady WR's - they will be overlooked in Dallas and someone will pay the price. Look for the first upset to come from Team Xavix in Dallas.
True Sleepers:
Quick , Players Inc. and South Bay Ballers are the true sleepers in this tournament. Quick 6 out of Utah is crippled only by the state from which they reside. The state name alone will cause teams toquestion thier ability, but this is another team that has the speed and offense to beat every team in this tournament.
Players Inc, is another team playing in the shadows of their in-state rival. Like Daygo Funhouse, Players Inc. are always in the shadows of Sudden Impact who are more interesting because of their 6 foot plus, 0 body fat framed players and punishing running attack. Players Inc is a team that can beat anyone provided their QB has time. Physical play is of the norm with this bunch and they too have something to prove on the grand stage.
South Bay had a strong year, but flew under the radar for the most part. Arguably one of the most physical teams in the West (along with the Denver Gamblers and L.B. Players), they will be coming to send a strong message to the East and everyone else. Defeated Swarm in Vegas, but performed miserably versus L.B. on Sunday. Look for them to come out gunning and banging.
