Hot Boys Front and Center in VA Beach
The Hot Boys, winners of the 2006 Flag Football World Championships will be making an appearance at the MCFFU National Championships in VA Beach to compete against some of the top 9-Man teams in the country and looking to earn the respect of their east coast peers. After defeating the Metro Dawgs in the 2006 World Championships, many in the 9-Man community placed an asterisk by the their title, as the Metro Dawgs, the east coasts hottest team at the time was said to have been short-handed in the tournament. Now 2 years later the Hot Boys, who like many teams in Texas criticized for their lack of travel; will venture into the 9-Man hot-bed in the VA Beach National Championships to face off with their WC2 nemesis Metro Dawgs and a slew of top level 9-Man teams looking to prove the Texas’ inferiority in 9-Man. This will be one of the Hot Boys’ biggest challenges as they may be out-sized by several of the normally larger east coast 9-man teams and traveling long distances often results in fewer overall numbers. But while size and power factor big in the east, speed and quickness will be the Hot Boys’ counter-punch and the Hot Boys still have a large pool of talent to pull from their state to bolster numbers. A strong finish by the Hot Boys will allow teams to expand their inner-maps of the 9-man quality teams to include Texas. However an early exit could loom large, as teams will consider Texas 9-man as just another sub-par region gaining national respect with local tournament wins. MCFFU Prediction: Hot Boys finishing 3rd-4th |
