ASPN: New Austin MCFFU 9-Man League
Amateur Sports Network in Austin, TX

This Fall the MCFFU will proudly sanction a new league in Austin, TX that will feature 9-Man Ineligible play, where teams will compete both locally and nationally.  The name of the league is (ASPN) Amateur Sports Professional Network and will be run by League Commissioner Terrel Lecesne and Directors Dexter Bailey and DJ Johnson.

The purpose for starting the Austin league is mainly due to the closing of the previous league but to also offer national competition and exposure to Austin, TX area.  When asked about the goals and objectives of ASPN Flag Football League, Commissioner Terrel Lecesne stated, “In summary to bring a professional attitude to how the game is presented and played."

ASPN will begin hosting tournaments in 2008 in an effort to draw national attention to the Austin, TX area, which currently has huge presences in competitive flag football.  However the 9-Man style has steadily been in decline over the last few years, as screen has become a more desired style of play.  Terrel and his team are looking to rejuvenate the 9-Man style and compete with the Dallas, TX; an area that has upwards of 28 9-Man Ineligible teams competing today and the host city of the Flag Football World Championships.

The ASPN Flag Football group are not shy about wanting to one day host the Flag Football World Championships hosted in Austin, TX.  “Having worked for 3 professional teams in the area I have some unique connections in the Austin area. But I know we need to prove ourselves before such a move would be considered. I'm going to work very closely with the other leagues in the State. The bottom line is that I like to see things done right, I like the way you guys (MCFFU) are doing things otherwise I wouldn't have contacted you. I love our sport and would like to see it grow not just for the fun that can be had playing but the lessons on team work you can only learn playing football.

In regards to running a successful flag football business, the ASPN Group believes that the profits will come later, but first they are focused on providing a quality service and meeting and exceeding the expectations of their customers.  “The teams and players are our customers and will be treated as such with the highest level of respectI figure if I'm true to myself and up front with (teams and players) it will help define what and how we do things. As they say, people don't plan to fail, they fail to plan”.
